The Windy City Kayak Symposium, held June 4-7, 2009, is a weekend-long sea kayaking event with on-water courses, kayak tours, on-land workshops and fun social events for paddlers of all ages and paddling experience.
This year's coaches are coming in from the UK, Pacific Northwest, Southeast and the Great Lakes Region to offer the top coaching available at any time in the midwest region. Look for new courses like the "Greenlandic Comprehensive" by the greenland style gurus Cheri Perry and Turner Wilson, "Situation Management" with top UK coach Peter Jones, and a full range of courses such from "Introduction to Sea Kayaking", to Basic and Advanced Rescues, to "Performance Paddling". Whether you're new to the sport, looking to develop sea kayak leadership skills, or somewhere in between, this event has something for you.
This year, the symposium will move to Illinois Beach Resort inside Illinois Beach State Park near Zion, IL. Our symposium set-up this year includes a conference room for optimal viewing of paddling presentations, all meals included with your registration and both camping and lodge accommodation choices.
